Marriott to debut Westin Hotels in The Maldives
Marriott International has announced the debut of Westin Hotels & Resorts in the Republic of Maldives with the opening of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort. Developed by Belluna Japan and Asia Capital PLC, the property is set to herald the Westin brand’s wellness positioning in the Maldivian oasis.
Nestled on a coral island in the Baa Atoll, a designated Unesco Biosphere Reserve site, The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort comprises 70 villas and suites, 41 on island and 29 overwater, which are poised on stilts with an area of almost 200m² each. Designed by Milan-based architects PEIA Associati, the hotel takes inspiration from the ocean with a visionary approach towards environmental sustainability.
Amongst the dining options, meanwhile, are three restaurants and a rooftop bar. The all-day dining experience at Island Kitchen stays true to the Westin brand’s Eat Well pillar through a thoughtful menu combining Chinese, Indian and Maldivian fare, while speciality restaurant The Pearl serves Japanese cuisine in an elegant setting with ocean views. Elsewhere at Hawker, guests can sample authentic Asian food in an atmospheric restaurant complete with a live kitchen, and at the Sunset Bar can relax in a lounge serving tapas and experimental cocktails created by a team of mixologists.
Additional resort facilities include Westin’s signature branded spa concept: the Heavenly Spa by Westin, a 24-hour WestinWorkout fitness centre and the Westin Kids Club.
