Marriott and Schrager reveal The Bodrum Edition

Edition Hotels – a partnership between Ian Schrager and Marriott International – has revealed its latest property, The Bodrum Edition, set on Turkey’s Yalikavak bay and overlooking the Turkish Riviera.

Set to open in June, the hotel is tucked away in a wind-sheltered cove on the west side of the peninsula, and draws design inspiration from native natural resources, flora and fauna – channeling these elements through a contemporary lens. Olive trees and local stone are present throughout, whilst the Christophe Pillet and Ian Schrager Company-designed reception area features a glass atrium which frames views of the bay, and is populated by pockets of intimate communal seating.

As the horseshoe-shaped grounds slope down towards the beach with its jetty and private cabanas, the pathways and leisure areas are interspersed by guestrooms, bungalows with private pools, and a series of four-bedroom private villas. Between these are the hotel’s lounge bars and cocktail areas, as well as two signature restaurants by Peruvian chef Diego Munoz, formerly of El Bulli and Mugaritz.

Finished with warm wood and airy fabrics, guestrooms contrast stone floors against a clean, light palette. Each features a marble bathroom, whilst the private villa option offers a pool area and sauna, and two additional suites incorporate private plunge pools and terraces. Elsewhere, Discetto, The Bodrum Edition’s nightclub, will play host to live music, and DJ’s, whilst, for private events and business travellers, the hotel has over 4,000ft² of indoor and outdoor space including studios and a ballroom. At the base of the resort lies an infinity pool, which ends at the sea overlooking the curve of the peninsula. The hotel’s 100 metre-long beach area features a casual beach bar and club welcoming resident guests to private cabanas, as well as yacht-transported visitors from the nearby Greek islands – a 50-minute sail away.

Throughout the property, specialty restaurants seek to celebrate culinary innovation and creative design. The largest of these, Kitchen at The Bodrum Edition, will deliver a Mediterranean experience with seating for up to 202 guests. Served mezze style, the menu will be designed around health and wellness with an all-day Turkish brunch menu. Meanwhile, Brava will serve up family-style dishes of Latin American cuisine inspired by Mediterranean and Asian flavours, with a menu split into crudos, sea, field, vegetable and grains. The hotel further houses a 14-room spa facility complete with Turkish Hammam, salt treatment room, sauna, steam room and plunge pool.
