Marina Bay Sands completes guestroom redesign as part of $1 billion transformation

Marina Bay Sands’ $1 billion reinvestment programme – its most ambitious to date since opening in 2010 – has reached a key milestone, with the completion of over 850 new hotel rooms. The rooms, located in Towers 1 and 2 of the hotel, represent the first wave of newly-designed accommodation that draws on Singapore’s multicultural heritage.

The newly-configured rooms and suites offer a preview of what can be expected from the Singapore hotel’s multi-year transformation, which began in late 2021. Currently, over 850 rooms have been completed – nearly two-thirds of the 1,282 rooms that are set to benefit from the renovations. The next phase of renovation will focus on suites, and will see the hotel’s suite count increase from 137 to around 422. The transformation of Towers 1 and 2 is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, while details of further renovations in Tower 3, the hotel lobby and Sands SkyPark are set to be announced at a later date.

Paul Town, Chief Operating Officer at Marina Bay Sands, comments: “This extensive design transformation of our iconic Hotel is a leap forward in our commitment to set new benchmarks for ourselves and the industry. And the transformation doesn’t just stop at our new rooms, as this is only the beginning. Over the next few years, guests will witness luxury at every corner of our property. From the arrival experience at the Lobby to new concepts on Sands SkyPark, every guest touchpoint is being reviewed and transformed, at a scale unprecedented in our 13 years of operations. We are very excited about what lies ahead as we transform to meet the evolving and elevated expectations of our guests.”

The completion of the current phase of transformation comes on the back of strong earnings in the first quarter of 2023, whereby Marina Bay Sands saw net revenues more than double to $848 million for the period ending 31 March 2023, with room revenue hitting $97 million – an approximately 155% increase from the same period in 2022.
