Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid is set to reopen in April 2021 following a three-year restoration.

The original property, Hotel Ritz – which first opened in 1910 – was designed and built under the supervision of hotelier César Ritz. Throughout the refurbishment, Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz and French design duo Gilles & Boissier have looked to encapsulate a mix of classic and contemporary styles, preserving the structure’s Belle Époque character while introducing modern-day touches that cater for today’s traveller.

Visitors will have the choice between 153 residential-style guestrooms, including 53 suites – specialty accommodation comprises the Royal Suite, the Presidential Suite, and two options in the top floor turrets featuring private balconies with views over the city’s Prado Museum and Lealtad Square – as well as five restaurants and bars, which have been designed, developed and implemented by Spanish chef, Quique Dacosta. The building’s historic Palm Court, with its signature glass dome, has also been reinstated after more than 80 years and will display artworks inspired by the hotel’s strong connection to the capital.
