Maison de la Luz guesthouse opens its doors in New Orleans
Maison de la Luz– a 67-key boutique occupying New Orleans’ former City Hall – has opened its doors. Designed by Atelier Ace in partnership with Studio Shamshiri, the project features guest spaces evoking southern charm and understated elegance.
Located in the Arts Warehouse district, the aesthetic channels Southern allure by marrying warm, subtle details with indulgent features such as the historic grand staircase banisters and marble vanities. Craft cocktail bar, Bar Marilou, is housed in the former City Hall library and is open to all. Its design will contrast that of Maison de la Luz’ high-touch finish by incorporating notes of mischief and French-inflected fare. The bar is the first US venture from French hospitality group, Quixotic Projects.
Partner and Chief Brand Officer of Atelier Ace, Kelly Sawdon, comments: “We wanted la Luz to feel like a home; to imbue a sense of belonging and easy elegance in the form of a private sanctuary and a refuge to fully luxuriate in. As a respite and lighthouse for all senses, Maison de la Luz is inspired by romance, rebellion and Southern swoon.”
