Manchester Hoteliers’ Association is behind the £40m project, which is due to open in 2015, the BBC has reported.

The 120-bedroom luxury hotel, set to be called Hotel Future, could provide training for 100 apprentices per year alongside experienced members of staff.

Stephen Miles from the Manchester Hoteliers’ Association said the hotel would mean thousands of jobs would also be created in construction, hospitality and education.

“Hotel Future sprung from the Manchester Hoteliers Association’s desire to attract and retain talent in our industry,” he said.

It is expected that the finished hotel will link to the re-furbished Queen Elizabeth Hall to create a conference and meeting centre.

“The association is seeing that there is great potential [here],” Oldham Council leader Jim McMahon said, speaking to the BBC.

“Oldham is under-served by quality hotels and the association is seeing the tourism catchment area potentially for the south Pennines and Oldham, but also for the city centre or as a regional conferencing venue.”
