Locke to open second London hotel in March
Locke has announced a March opening date for its second London-based hotel, Locke at Broken Wharf.
Situated at London’s Millennium Bridge, just a stone’s throw from Cannon Street and Blackfriars, the 113-key property marks the next step in Locke’s expansion plans. Meeting the evolving and varied demands of modern travellers, the hotel blends the advantages of a high-end lifestyle hotel with the space and flexibility of an apartment.
Generously sized guestrooms range from 18m² larger-than-average boutique rooms, to spacious 33m² suites that match the size of a London serviced apartment. Designed by Matthew Grzywinski of Grzywinski+Pons, the interiors take inspiration from the building’s surroundings with each studio accented by subtle aesthetics, natural tones, pastel colours and white marble worktops contrasted with brass detailing.
Having designed most of the furniture in each room himself, Grzywinski comments: “Throughout the property, I played with a little matt and gloss tension, employing the aspirational bling of chrome, smoked glass and polished copper, softened by the warmth and enveloping tactility of timber, cane and butterscotch upholstery.”
The hotel F&B comprises Deli Cat & Sons, a New York-style deli with local flavours offering a selection of freshly baked bagels and salads, as well as a menu of breakfast and brunch dishes for eating in or taking away. For guests who wish to prepare their own meals, cookbooks are provided and pantry essentials are available on request. Meeting the needs of local businesses and travellers alike, a co-working space on the ground floor will host a cultural programme spanning wellness, fitness and art.
Locke at Broken Wharf paves the way for two more London openings in Bermondsey and Dalston later this year, in addition to international projects in Dublin, Munich, Berlin, Lisbon and Copenhagen.
