Life House Little Havana reopens in Miami
Life House has announced the reopening of its first boutique property in Miami’s Little Havana neighbourhood.
The historic 1920s building now houses 33 guestrooms, a living room lobby, library and courtyard. Overlooking the city skyline is Terras, the rooftop restaurant and bar serving Latin street food and cocktails made using ingredients and herbs from the rooftop garden.
To elevate the rooftop’s offering, Life House has partnered with resident DJ Maure to offer tri-weekly sets, reflecting music’s integral role in Latin American culture.
As part of the hotel’s design concept, original Mission Revival features, such as the red clay roof tiles and the exterior’s terracotta stucco finish, were carefully maintained to embody Little Havana’s history.
Inside, a collection of vintage pieces is complemented by bespoke furniture, textiles and contextual artwork curated to depict the diverse plurality of cultures within the community.
Upon entering, guests will be greeted by a bright and airy atrium with a three-storey gallery wall by local Cuban photographer Christina Arza, while the living room lobby features custom mahogany woodwork is accented by Afrocuban ceramics as a nod to the overlooked Black artists of 1920s Cuba. The narrative is continued on the floors above, with a hand-painted tropical mural by Colombian artist Sai Vargas in the stairwell and artworks by Leandro Feal in the guestrooms.
“Our Little Havana Life House has always been my favourite, not just because it was our first property, but because of the depth of the story we’re telling and the bold approach we’ve taken to tell it,” says Rami Zeidan, Founder & CEO of Life House. “I think we’ve done that in Little Havana in a beautiful, contextual hotel and I can’t wait to spend the winter there and share it with guests who want the same.”
The reopening of Life House Little Havana follows the brand’s recent launches in Denver and Nantucket, with several more hotels in development for 2022 both in the U.S. and internationally.
