Le Méridien Visconti to open in 2016

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced that Le Méridien Visconti will open in Rome by the end of the year, marking the brand’s re-entry into Italy.

Owned and managed by the Toti Group, the property has undergone an extensive renovation and conversion from the independent Visconti Palace Hotel.

Le Méridien Visconti Rome is ideally located in the Prati district near the Vatican, Castel Sant’ Angelo and one of Rome’s premier shopping streets, Via Cola di Rienzo. The hotel is also within walking distance from Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo, Villa Borghese, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon.

Guests will experience signature amenities from the Parisian-born brand including Le Méridien Hub, an innovative reinterpretation of the traditional hotel lobby into an experiential space for creative and curious minded guests to converse, socialise and exchange. The signature Latitude Bar will serve coffee specialties from the brand’s long-term partner, Illy, as well as light bites by day and sparkling aperitifs by night.

Each of the 240 modern guestrooms and suites will offer mid-century modern design with spacious workspaces and subtle technology. Bringing the romance of Rome to life, the hotel’s curated culinary offerings will include a stunning rooftop terrace, all-day dining restaurant, breakfast room and bar.

Starwood has a long history of operations in Italy, with 23 hotels in the country today under five of its design-led brands: St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Sheraton, Westin and Four Points by Sheraton. This new hotel will join four other Starwood hotels in Rome, including St. Regis Rome, Westin Excelsior Rome, Sheraton Roma Hotel & Conference Center, and Sheraton Golf Parco de’Medici.

Michael Wale, president, Starwood Hotels & Resorts President, comments: “We look forward to establishing a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship with the Toti Group and thank them for putting their trust in Starwood. We are excited to re-introduce Le Méridien into Italy and unlock ‘The Eternal City’ and its rich culture for our guests and curious-minded travellers.”
