Lavida Hotel opens at PGA Catalunya Resort
Lavida Hotel has opened its doors at PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, unveiling interiors by Bryan O’Sullivan Studio. Working closely with Barcelona-based architects GCA, the interior design practice has woven elements of the local vernacular into the design in order to retain a sense of place.
Set over three floors, the hotel’s fifty guestrooms draw inspiration from the Mediterranean sea and feature fresh palettes of aquamarines and sea greens, while bespoke hexagonal flooring reflects the traditional coloured cement tiles local to the Girona region. Elsewhere, original artwork designed by Bryan O’Sullivan Studio provides an abstract view of the course, and specially designed golf storage aids in-room functionality. Echoing PGA Catalunya Resort’s overall design aesthetic of connecting interiors with exteriors, guestrooms also make use of floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies, which afford panoramic views of the surrounding holes.
The hotel’s main bar and restaurant, Bella’s, contrasts pared back concrete material with warm woods and vibrant furniture, and uses bespoke laser-cut metal screens to divide its main seating areas. An open pizza kitchen also adds to the atmosphere, serving classic dishes made from fresh seasonal ingredients.
Meanwhile, a focal central bar is finished with local marble and monochrome cement tiles, and serves a wide selection of international wines. Beyond the bar is a covered outdoor lounge featuring a swimming pool, sunbathing deck and relaxed seating areas in palettes of yellow and grey, all of which overlook the golf course.
“We’ve absolutely loved designing the interiors of the public spaces and guestrooms here at Lavida Hotel,” says Bryan O’Sullivan. “The project has been fun to deliver, and we’ve kept the outdoors experience front of mind. We hope this comes through in our designs for the visitor experience. It’s important for us at the studio to combine our highly aesthetic approach with exceptional functionality. We believe we’ve created a hotel that will be vibrant for years to come.”
