La Folie Douce Hotel opens in Chamonix

La Folie Douce has opened a new property in downtown Chamonix, a resort area near the junction of France, Switzerland and Italy. Situated next to the Savoy draglift in the Brévent ski area, the hotel offers ski-in/ski-out via a green slope, with the draglift providing access to both the Brévent and Flégère ski routes.

The hotel has been present in Chamonix since 1904, initially known as the Grand Palace of Savoy – explaining the regal feel of the building – yet inside, the classic Folie Douce ambience is married with modern alpine touches across 250 guestrooms, an après ski bar and restaurants.

The eclectic mix of interiors continues through check-in terminals shaped as white swans, while in direct contrast, the bar and lobby are decorated with crystal chandeliers and vintage objects to preserve and reveal the authenticity of the building.

Another eye-catching design detail is carpets by Ege in the corridors, which add a distinct identity to each floor with varied designs, graphics and vibrant colourways. A series of motives are inspired by the local mountain fauna, Mondrian graphics and interpretations of the codes of winter sports by sketch games.
