Jo&Joe launches first property
Jo&Joe, Accorhotels’ new millennial focused brand, has announced a 29 May opening date for its first property in Hossegor, France. Blending the best of hotel, hostel and private-rental formats, Jo&Joe chose Hossegor due to its popularity among surfers and millennials, and teamed up with popular sports brands Quicksilver and Roxy to present the inaugural open house.
Starting with a large building in the local architectural style and a 10,000m² garden, Jo&Joe has created a property that epitomises its disruptive DNA. The interior was redesigned to create open spaces that flow seamlessly from indoors to outdoors, while furniture was chosen for its mobility and flexibility of use. Penson, the studio responsible for the Jo&Joe design, worked with both Quicksilver and Roxy to give the project a local twist and an identity of its own.
Designed so that guests retain a sense of privacy, the sleeping accommodation offers different solutions including Together (a shared sleeping area for 7-12 guests) Out of the Ordinary (for up to 10 guests) and Yours (private spaces for 2-5 guests). Communal spaces include the Happy House, a private area equipped with lockers, and the Playground, open to both guests and locals and comprising a bar and restaurant.
Launched in September 2016, the brand is the latest addition to AccorHotels’ economy brand portfolio. Jo&Joe aims to expand rapidly in international markets with fifty destinations planed by 2020. Next on the list are Paris and Bordeaux properties in 2018, followed by Budapest, Edinburgh, Lille, Rio and Berlin.
