J Plus by YOO is rebranded with facelift from Philippe Starck

On it’s 10th anniversary, the hotel has been redefined for the  next decade by YOO, founded by design guru Philippe Starck and entrepreneur John Hitchcox.

A new-look façade pulls back the curtains to reveal the buzzing street-level lobby and the main entrance, previously tucked away in Irving Street, now holds a much more prominent entry on Pennington Street.

The interiors of the hotel have also been given a new lease of life, bearing avant garde design elements that unmistakably reflect YOO’s unconventional DNA, from playfully coloured fabrics by feted designers, to eclectic imported European furniture. Yellow, orange and red tinted glass panels inscribed with Chinese motifs of coins, dragons and bamboo are introduced as symbols of good fortune.

“J Plus by YOO has been redesigned with a fresh new look for 2014,” commented Mathew Dalby, Director at YOO Design. “In a city so synonymous with change, this refreshed restyling continues our design house’s legacy of contemporary, imaginative and sophisticated creativity to surprise and delight.”

The comprehensive makeover is being completed with bright design for the hotel’s 32 luxurious studios and 24 spacious suites, which are styles in four vivid colour themes.

“In celebration of our first multi-award winning decade, this iconic address is now redefined and refreshed for the future,” said Vivian Chau, General Manager, J Plus Hotel by YOO.
