Soho House has landed in Latin America, opening the doors to Soho House Mexico City.
Situated in the heart of Colonia Juárez in a historic building formerly a private residence, the new Soho House has been reimagined by the brand’s in-house design team. Initially launching with four bedrooms, alongside several bars, a library, vinyl music room and a pool and pool house, the House has been designed to reflect the building’s historic French and baroque heritage.
Soho House Design drew inspiration from the property’s European origins, retaining many original features while pairing them with a neutral yet bold colour palette. Interiors blend contemporary furnishings with vintage pieces from renowned Mexican designers like Alinka Echeverria, Claudia Peña and Clotilde Jimenez.
Food and beverage take centre stage at the new Soho House Mexico City, with the flavours and local produce of Mexico spotlighted. Developed in partnership with Michelin-starred Chef Christopher Kostow and operated by Grupo Hunan, the House’s food and beverage venues offer a range of relaxed and refined dining and drinking experiences.
Upon entering the House, members are greeted by a textile installation designed by artist duo Celeste, which filters sunlight through printed, earth-toned fabrics. Guests then progress to the salon, which served as the living room in the original house. Here, bold colours are layered through the space, with old and new textiles and ceramics mixed throughout.
Adjoining the salon is the library, a workspace for members to take advantage of through the day. In the drawing room, high ceilings and bright natural light enhance the space’s deep blues, which are mixed in with various shades of red and dusty rose.
Reflecting the property’s French influence, the pool house captures the romanticism associated with European greenhouses. Situated on the edge of the 19m outdoor pool, the structure’s large glass panels drench the space with natural light, providing the backdrop for a relaxed dining experience, with many dishes prepared on the grill.
Additional outdoor spaces take the form of a patio for al fresco dining, nestled between an open kitchen and a tequila bar, which has been designed as an homage to Mexico’s rich heritage, with vibrant mosaics and rustic woodwork. The main bar meanwhile serves as a central meeting point within Soho House Mexico City, adjoining a music room and hosting a grand piano and additional club seating.
Formerly the wine cellar, the basement of the House has been transformed into several lounge spaces complete with a vinyl bar. The existing cellar has been maintained and reimagined with bespoke furniture, artwork and some of Soho House’s signature lighting with hand-blown glass sconces.
Only four bedrooms are currently available in the House, with more set to open in future. Set on the second floor of the main house, the interior design of guestrooms honours the European origins of the original building, mixed in with signature Soho House furnishings and distinct Mexican influences, including throws from Oaxaca, handmade tapestries and local Mexican artwork. Guestrooms offer Soho House’s signature amenities, from Cowshed and Soho Skin products to homemade biscuits and a stocked minibar.
