Imagination transforms Belgrade building into up-to-date Crowne Plaza

A prime example of the architecture of the period, the 416-room hotel has recently reopened, embracing a new spirit in terms of hospitality design. The design approach celebrates the original vast spaces and concrete interior volumes, whilst subtly introducing the warm and welcoming ambiance luxury global travellers expect today.

This new context, incorporating classic iconic furniture and art pieces of the 70s, combined with strong contemporary design gestures, makes an interesting friction between styles, lending a timeless yet eclectic and characterful quality to the mix of personal and relaxing interior spaces.

Angela Brav, CEO, InterContinental Hotels Group Europe commented: “We are thrilled to see the first Crowne Plaza open its doors in Serbia and the region. Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts has an established reputation as one of the best business hotel brands in the industry and thirty years on it continues to resonate with ambitious career-focused travellers across the globe.”

At the centre of the new hotel experience there are dynamic bars integrated to the lobby and an exclusive Club lounge where guests can enjoy the activity and buzz of hotel life. Food is a strong part of the offer for guests, as well as for the local clientele, introducing The Dining Room – a flexible concept that challenges preconceptions of all day dining experiences – and Prime, an exclusive Serbian speciality restaurant targeting the connoisseurs of good food and wines.

The rooms and suites have an urban, residential and contemporary feel, adding a personal style through the use of concrete rendered walls, exclusively designed bespoke furniture, original artwork and touches of vibrant colour within the neutral shell.

Facilities include the largest ballroom in Belgrade where parties and events will be held, smart conference and meeting rooms equipped with state of the art technology, and a gym and Spa incorporating a 20-metre long swimming pool.

Carlos Virgile, Global Head of Retail and Leisure at Imagination and Founder of Virgile + Partners concluded: “Like exclusive boutique hotels, more accessible hotel brands are increasingly embracing the concept of character and differentiation in the overall experience, enhancing the stay and combining a residential and contemporary designed ambiance with specialised facilities, not just for the international guest but also attracting the city residents. Belgrade Crowne Plaza should become a centre for social interaction and activity, whether for business or pleasure, and not just a place for another unmemorable ‘just sleeping’ stay.”
