IHG signs Crowne Plaza London – Albert Embankment
IHG will operate under a franchise agreement with Cannon Corporate UK Ltd to build the new property, featuring over 130 guestrooms and a restaurant overlooking the iconic River Thames. The newbuild is part of a significant regeneration of the Albert Embankment area that will hopefully propel the Crowne Plaza London to the forefront as a hub for meetings, conferences and events.
Chief Development Officer at IHG, Robert Shepherd comments: “It’s fantastic to be signing another great upscale hotel in this thriving part of London…We have an enormous opportunity to build on what has already been achieved in London and we are showing no signs of slowing down. The UK market offers a wealth of development opportunities that are yet to be realised. This hotel is a great example of IHG’s growth here and a strong sign of confidence in our brands.”
The hotel is the latest property to be added to The Crowne Plaza’s global portfolio, which has doubled since 2003. The brand is set to open a further 97 hotels in the next three to five years.
Mudhar Shawkat, owner and Director of Cannon Corporate UK Ltd concludes: “Crowne Plaza London – Albert Embankment will be an asset to London. The need for fully equipped business minded hotels is ever increasing and we’re looking forward to providing a wonderful hotel experience to our guests.”
