Hotel Indigo debuts in Italy and Russia

Every Hotel Indigo property aims to reflect the local neighbourhood, from the building design to the hotel’s artwork and locally inspired menus, each hotel is unique.

Debuting in Russia, Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg – Tchaikovskogo is located in the historic centre between the Neva and Fontanka rivers, the Summer Garden and Tavricheskiy Garden. The 119-room hotel features floor-to-ceiling murals inspired by the neighbouring Summer Garden, the Foundry metal works and river embankments. Spacious suites provide panoramic views of the city and the river Neva, while the Afisha Bar offers cocktails and knowledgeable art-concierge staff. Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg – Tchaikovskogo operates under a franchise agreement with Vega LLC.

Another scheduled debut for the brand is the Hotel Indigo Rome – St. George. Located in Via Guilia, the 64-room Rome addition is placed in the city’s historic centre, combining Renaissance features with contemporary Italian design. Existing architectural elements such as stone walls, Roman paving, arches and tick pillars sit alongside contemporary Italian art, modern mosaic design and custom-made furniture.

Guests can relax in the hotel’s Spa, which includes a Roman bath, enjoy Italian cuisine in the Sofa di Via Giulia restaurant or, in summer months, take in views of St. Peter’s Dome via the Roof Top Bar and Restaurant. The hotel will operate under a franchise agreement with Hotel Invest Italiana SRL.

Tom Rowntree, Vice President Brand Management Upscale & Luxury Brands, Europe IHG commented: “Hotel Indigo Rome – St George is the first Hotel Indigo to open in Italy and there are a further 15 in the pipeline in Europe. Rome is an important location for the brand; we are committed to opening in stylish and dynamic neighbourhoods and the surroundings of Hotel Indigo Rome – St George are exactly that.”

IHG is also set to open Hotel Indigo Madrid – Gran Via in April 2014, becoming the brands second hotel in Spain. The hotel features 85 individually designed rooms, using the local area as inspiration.

Guests can experience Madrid’s lifestyle from the rooftop terrace, or move downstairs to the Gastrobar & Restaurant, which offers seasonal Mediterranean menus created by renowned chef Andrea Tumbarello.

Rafael Ramirez Calle, General Manager, Hotel Indigo Madrid – Gran Via concluded: “Situated right in the heart, Hotel Indigo Madrid – Gran Via offers the perfect setting for exploring this modern, cosmopolitan city. Engrossed in our local history and charm, the uniquely designed hotel captures the voice and distinctive personality of modern Madrid.”

Hotel Indigo Madrid – Gran Via will also operate under a franchise agreement with Luis Alvarez Dominguez Angel Alvare.
