Hilton reveals Conrad Hotel in Hangzhou

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of new Conrad-branded hotel in Hangzhou, China.

Designed by AB Concept, the 324-key Raffles City Conrad Hotel sits above the Raffles City complex, a high-end sustainable hub for living, working and leisure. Located near Qiantang River, the interiors revolve around a tidal rhythm and explores how movement translates into a space. Rounded surfaces have been used in place of traditional square corners to create a sleek form and infer motion.

AB Concept co-founders Ed Ng and Terence Ngan were also inspired by Hangzhou’s West Lake area – a Unesco World Heritage Site renowned for its breath-taking scenery of rolling green hills, lush gardens and temples of ancient dynasties.

“When we think of the heritage and cultural aspects of Hangzhou, beautiful West Lake immediately comes to mind,” says Ed Ng, Co-founder of AB Concept. “It’s this sentiment that led to the overall fluid and undulating design in reference to Hangzhou’s West Lake and the tale of the broken bridge. It’s iconic Hangzhou.”
