Hilton reveals Canopy Chicago

Hilton has unveiled plans to develop a Canopy hotel in Chicago. Set to Reside in the city’s Loop neighbourhood, the 223-guestroom property is slated for a Q3 2018 opening.

Canopy by Hilton Chicago Loop is designed as a natural extension of Chicago’s downtown neighbourhood, with local design influences and natural materials used throughout the hotel’s architecture and interiors.

The hotel’s entrance will be located on La Salle Street, with its reception area, restaurant, bar, and Canopy Central lobby all located on the 20th level. The hotel will also offer a fitness centre, day transfer lounge, 4,000ft² of meeting space, and a rooftop terrace and bar.

“We are delighted to bring the Canopy by Hilton brand to the thriving Loop neighbourhood, in the heart of the Financial District,” comments Michael W. Reschke, Chairman and CEO of The Prime Group. “With convenient proximity to Chicago’s central business district, dining, shopping, the theatre district, and Canopy’s dedication to comfort and service, our Canopy by Hilton hotel will be a natural choice for both business and leisure travellers looking for a true Chicago experience.”

The hotel will be a conversion of the top four floors of the historic landmarked building by Daniel Burnham, which also houses the new 610-key JW Marriott. Canopy’s guestrooms will be spacious, with an average size of 480ft², and will feature wood floors, 60” HDTVS and large bathrooms with walk-in showers and private toilet compartments.

“We’re looking forward to extending a warm welcome to the Loop neighbourhood,” explains Gary Steffen, Global Head, Canopy by Hilton. “The Windy City is an exceptional destination with rich history, outstanding culinary offerings and so much for visitors to explore; we look forward to Canopy giving energetic and adventurous travellers an authentic neighbourhood experience.”

The Loop neighbourhood is home to 100 restaurants, galleries, and boutiques and numerous subway and elevated rapid transit stations. The Canopy’s staff, known as ‘Enthusiasts’, will lead guests to popular neighbourhood attractions including Millennium Park, Grant Park, State Street, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Willis Tower and its Observation Skydeck.

Canopy by Hilton Chicago Loop will complement the eclectic personality of the downtown neighbourhood by appealing to travellers looking for a unique and upscale experience. The hotel will aim to blend into the neighbourhood by featuring artwork from local artists, serving traditional and locally sourced food and drink, and offering destination-specific welcome gifts.
