Hilton plans Cancun hotel duo

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to introduce the Waldorf Astoria Cancun and the all-inclusive Hilton Cancun resort to its Mexico portfolio. Developed by Parks Hospitality and set to open in 2021, the neighbouring properties will feature distinct characteristics and amenities across 100 acres of Caribbean beachfront.

“With more than half of our Latin America portfolio present in Mexico, we are proud to announce the plans for Waldorf Astoria Cancun and Hilton Cancun as we continue to introduce distinguished properties in the world’s most sought-after destinations,” says Juan Corvinos, VP, Development, Latin America and the Caribbean, Hilton. “Representing our luxury and upscale brands respectively, Waldorf Astoria Cancun and Hilton Cancun will offer guests a taste of Mexican culture fused with Waldorf Astoria’s uncompromising sophistication and Hilton Hotels & Resort’s flagship hospitality.”

The Waldorf Astoria Cancun will feature 150 guestrooms and suites, with waterfront or mangrove-facing terraces and private balconies. The property will also boast the signature Waldorf Astoria spa, integrating Mexican healing traditions with native ingredients, in addition to fitness facilities, two plunge pools and two dining experiences. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy locally sourced Yucatecan cuisine that will be offered at additional dining venues throughout the property.

The neighbouring all-inclusive Hilton Cancun resort property, meanwhile, will feature 600 guestrooms and panoramic views. The hotel will be home to six all-inclusive unique culinary experiences, as well as expansive meeting and events spaces – present across both hotels – able to accommodate everything from small gatherings to large weddings.

“Through this collaboration, we are excited about expanding our portfolio in Cancun, one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations,” explains Charles Elmann Fasja, CEO of Parks Desarrolladora. “We recognise the tremendous value in working with a respected industry leader such as Hilton and we look forward to building upon this alliance in the future.”

Design firms SB Architects, EDSA and HBA have been hand-selected to create a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor spaces throughout both the Waldorf Astoria Cancun and the Hilton Cancun properties. Inspired by the surrounding area’s natural elements, the design of both hotels will incorporate variations of modern lines, repetitive patterns and undulating forms that mimic the sea. Both properties will also feature classic Mexican colours and materials, as well as modern design elements and technology.

Situated on 100 acres of Caribbean beachfront, the duo will be located near the municipality of Benito Juarez, Cancun, a town and seaport in Quintana Roo on the Yucatan peninsula, approximately 10 minutes from Cancun International Airport.

Hilton currently has a portfolio of more than 100 hotels and resorts open in Latin America, including more than 50 in Mexico. The company is actively pursuing additional Latin American growth opportunities and currently has a pipeline of over 70 hotels throughout the region, including nearly 30 projects in Mexico. This year, Hilton has opened seven hotels across four brands in the country, including the in-market debut of the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand in San Luis Potosi.
