Hilton Heidelberg opens its doors

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Hilton Heidelberg, the latest German addition to its flagship brand.

Owned by Invesco Real Estate and operated by Trimont Hotel Operations, Hilton Heidelberg combines new construction with the preservation of the former Hotel Schrieder, first opened in 1845. The new hotel comprises 244 guestrooms and suites, with interiors by Studio Lux Berlin paying tribute to the rich literary heritage of Heidelberg, which is celebrated as a UNESCO ‘City of Literature’.

The hotel features seven flexible meeting spaces, a large ballroom for up to 300 guests, a fitness centre and two food and beverage venues.

Schrieder’s Bar and Schrieder’s Restaurant, named after the hotel’s founder, honour the hotel’s history – most notably through the Mark Twain cocktail, inspired by the author’s stay in Heidelberg. The restaurant presents a contemporary take on traditional German cuisine in an elegant courtyard space featuring a glass ceiling.

The construction and operation of Hilton Heidelberg aligns with Hilton’s Travel with Purpose ESG (environmental, social, governance) strategy, with the hotel participating in sustainability programmes like the Green Key accreditation process, and working towards achieving BREEAM refurbishment certification.

“The opening of Hilton Heidelberg is a significant milestone in our continued growth across Germany, and the brand is now present in 11 cities across the country,” says David Kelly, Senior Vice President, Continental Europe, Hilton. “We’re excited to welcome our first guests in Heidelberg with this important addition, one of more than 20 new hotels to open across Continental Europe in 2023.”

David Kellett, Managing Director – Alternative Investments at Invesco Real Estate adds: “The opening of Hilton Heidelberg, a key asset in Invesco’s pan-European hotel strategy, fills us with immense excitement. The work undertaken on this project is great testament to the ability of our collective teams at Invesco, Hilton and Westmont to recognise, plan and implement a full asset repositioning. We’re looking forward to showing our investors the newly refurbished hotel.”

The new hotel joins Hilton’s growing hotel portfolio in Germany, which currently includes 42 hotels and a further 15 hotels under development.
