Hilton Barcelona to re-open in May
Arriving in Barcelona in 1990, Hilton Barcelona has undergone an extensive refurbishment of its 289 guest rooms, 13 suites and public areas, including a spectacular new lobby, all designed by award-winning architect Matheo Thun.
Thun’s aim for the design was to integrate Barcelona’s vibrant surroundings into both the architecture and interior design of the hotel. Mr. Thun has created light-filled, dynamic and comfortable spaces, which reflect the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand’s commitment to exploring the latest design and technology innovations, ensuring the lobby is an engaging environment relevant for today’s global travelers and offering flexible solutions for hotel owners.
Frank Breuker, general manager, Hilton Barcelona said, “We’re looking forward to welcoming guests to experience the hotel’s new look this summer. The refurbished Hilton Barcelona is going to impress business travelers, leisure travelers and local residents alike with modern technology and facilities throughout the hotel and the spirit of Barcelona ever present in the local flavours used in our restaurant or the amazing design of our new lobby.”
The city’s original Hilton Hotels & Resorts property will offer 289 newly refurbished rooms and 13 suites with full sound proofing, individually controlled air-conditioning, full free wireless connectivity and a 32 inch TV. Guests staying on the executive floors will also have access to the executive lounge. Hilton Barcelona will offer a restaurant, a bar and a fantastic outdoor terrace during the summer season.
The hotel’s Vibe Bar and Lounge, and various private zones for informal meetings reflect the three hallmarks of the Hilton lobby design approach: accessible technology, contemporary food and beverage offerings, and an adaptable environment for community engagement. The centerpiece of the lobby at Hilton Barcelona includes a spectacular and colourful art installation of translucent material created by Jacobbo Foggini, bringing some of the city’s rich artistic landscape into the hotel.
Located in heart of the financial district, Hilton Barcelona is just 15 minutes by car from Barcelona’s International Airport and 5 minutes from Barcelona Sants Train Station. Leisure guests can take advantage of the city’s fabulous shops by visiting one of two shopping malls, just five minutes’ walk away.
The renovation of Hilton Barcelona is part of a three-year, $3 billion plan of significant property renovations currently underway across the global portfolio of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide.
