Hilton announces new Russian hotel

Hilton Gelendzhik Resort and Spa will be the Hilton brand’s second property in Russia, following the opening of the iconic Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya in 2008.

“As more travelers seek out the Russian Black Sea coast, the resort of Gelendzhik is seeing a revival as a major regional tourist destination,”Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President Development, Hilton Worldwide, Europe and Africa, said. “Russia is a strategic development market for Hilton Worldwide, and the new Hilton Gelendzhik Resort and Spa will offer a much needed quality accommodation in the area. With improvements in the transport infrastructure and increasing amounts of travel to Black Sea resorts, we anticipate Gelendzhik becoming an attractive destination for leisure travelers.”

Occupying a prime resort location on the Cap Tolstiy and with views over the Black Sea, Hilton Gelendzhik will offer 379 bedrooms, including seven ten-bedroom bungalows, over 3,000 square metres of spa and fitness facilities, including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as three restaurants, five bars and over 4,500 square metres of conferencing facilities.

Gelendzhik is known as a leading Russian health resort, and has become increasingly popular as a holiday destination noted for its beautiful Black Sea bay, sandy beaches, chain of waterfalls, prehistoric dolmens and surrounding areas of natural beauty. The newly built hotel will only be a five minute walk from the main promenade area of the city.

Hilton Worldwide currently manages and franchises two hotels in Russia, Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya and the Hilton Garden Inn Perm which were both opened in 2008. As a strategic development market, Hilton Worldwide has recently announced a Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Samara, expected to open in 2012, the Doubletree by Hilton Sochi-Adler, expected to open in 2012, the Doubletree by Hilton Perm, expected to open in 2011 and the Doubletree by Hilton Novosibirsk scheduled to open in spring 2010.
