Hampton greenlit for Manchester
Create Developments has been granted planning permission to begin the redevelopment of the vacant site bound by Rochdale Road and Sharp Street in Manchester, with a 221-guestroom Hampton by Hilton.
The proposed £30 million development by Tim Groom Architects has been designed with the environment in mind and will boast a contemporary façade reflecting the surrounding buildings, plus low carbon emissions and energy demands.
Tim Groom, Managing Director of Tim Groom architects comments: “It is a testament to Manchester’s ambition and commitment to regeneration that a brand like Hilton wants to come forward and commit to this part of the City. We have designed a building that draws on the history and context of this part of Manchester and expresses the industrial heritage of the City, through fenestration pattern and architectural detail, providing a building that will contribute to further regeneration on the Rochdale Road corridor. This area of the City is undergoing a huge transformation and it’s great to be a part of it.”
The site is located adjacent to the New Cross Neighbourhood Development Framework, and will mark the first Hampton property in Manchester. Construction is set to commence in Q4 of 2016, and upon completion will create approximately 40 jobs within the hotel.
