Gilles & Boissier reveals design of forthcoming St Tropez hotel
French architecture and design agency Gilles & Boissier has announced its work on a new luxury hotel in St Tropez.
Slated to open in 2027, the property forms part of the Oetker Collection, and is the result of collaboration with the Pariente and Essebag families.
The yet-to-be-named hotel will comprise 11 interconnected Provençal buildings, each nestled within nature. 53 rooms and suites will be complete with private terraces, while the property will also be home to an infinity pool, wellness facilities and a Provençal-inspired F&B offer. Landscaped gardens meanwhile featuring native plants and olive trees will enhance the natural surroundings, underscoring a commitment to preserving the local environment.
Dorothée Boissier, co-founder of Gilles & Boissier, likens the vision of the hotel to the simplicity of a sailboat: “A simple gesture brings the water close enough to feel the sea spray softly caress your face. Everything here is immediate, near, as if immersed in the essence of simplicity. Unlike a yacht, where layers separate you from the sea, here, everything is within reach. An invitation to embrace the essentials, embodied in the hotel’s philosophy: ‘What you have is all you need’.”
Inspired by St Tropez’s signature charm, Gilles & Boissier’s architectural vision emphasises a harmonious interplay of materials and textures. The lobby will feature textured plaster walls with intricate patterns and white stone flooring, while oman-inspired arches will complement warm wooden beams, evoking the character of Provençal farmhouses.
In the guestrooms, arched windows will open onto terraces offering sea views. Boissier continues: “Raw, brushed and moulded wood panels embrace the room like a jacket carefully placed on bare shoulders, bringing warmth and comfort. The straw headboard will complement the soothing colours of the room, while rope, a recurring design element, will gracefully adorn many details. The colours of St Tropez; delicate pastels, warm ochres and subtle pinks combine harmoniously with the sunlit, red-tiled roofs.”
