Four Seasons Taipei

Four Seasons sets sights on Taiwan capital

Four Seasons has announced plans for a new hotel in Taipei, developed in collaboration with Yuan Lih Construction.

Located in the city’s Xinyi District, the 31-storey property will comprise 260 rooms, an executive club lounge, and a fitness centre with an outdoor pool and spa. The F&B offering meanwhile is set to include a signature Chinese restaurant, destination bar, specialty restaurant, all-day restaurant, pool bar and lobby lounge. Ground-level garden space will also cater for meetings and events, as will a grand and junior ballroom.

London-based architecture firm RSHP has been selected for the design, which will seek to maximise natural light, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing city and mountain views. The practice is also hoping to reach Taiwan Green Building Rating Gold and a minimum LEED silver through an efficient structure and by supporting biodiversity.

“Through three significant outward facing spatial gestures across its elevation, the hotel will embrace the immediate public realm at street level, the rapidly growing Xinyi district at mid-level and Taipei’s iconic mountain setting at its peak, together creating a landmark building that is very much of its place,” says Ivan Harbour, Senior Design Partner at RSHP.

Bart Carnahan, President of Global Business Development and Portfolio Management at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, comments: “Taipei has long been a target destination for Four Seasons as we look to expand our presence in Asia’s most important cities. This project will be a destination of choice in Taipei for both locals and travellers, combining thoughtful design, world-class restaurants and bars, and of course personalised service by incredible Four Seasons people.”

Rising 180m high, the building will sit opposite Taipei 101 – one of the tallest towers in the world – and join an array of iconic skyscrapers in Asia. Lin Ming-Hsiung, President of Yuan Lih Construction, explains: “We are focused on creating projects that maximise land value while creating architectural landmarks, and we look forward to achieving these goals again with a new state-of-the-art building in Taipei.”
