First Look: Xenodocheio Milos, Athens
Xenodocheio Milos has opened its doors in downtown Athens opposite the city’s Old Parliament. Located in an area filled with history that celebrates local heritage, art and cuisine, the 43-room hotel is the first of its kind from Greek restaurant Estiatorio Milos, which has sites in London, New York and other major cities.
The property was constructed by Greek firm Intrakat, while A1 Architects and Dimitris Agiostratitis were responsible for the structure’s conversion, and Divercity and Nikolas Travasaros handled the interiors.
In the guestrooms and suites, which range from cosy classics to one-bedroom suites with outdoor terraces and Jacuzzis that overlook Old Parliament Square and Lycabettus Hill, the goal was to create an Athenian home away from home. The scheme combines Neoclassical refined living with high ceilings, marble bathrooms and the finest beds and linens. Each room is individually designed for a personal experience.
Aside from its design, the hotel also serves Mediterranean dishes from founder and Executive Chef Costas Spiliadis, with guests discovering his cooking philosophy of minimum interreference and respect towards high quality products and ingredients. On the menu is refined cuisine with rich flavour, from oysters, Greek ceviche and wild red Madagascar shrimp to celebrated Greek desserts including Karidopita and Baklava.
Rounding out the offer are a selection of wellness experiences, from rooftop yoga to pilates, while those looking to host exclusive private events can also pick from a number of meeting rooms or the open-air entertainment terrace, all of which echo the theme by fusing soft velvet furnishings and wooden floors.
