The Standard will open in Singapore later this year, marking the latest property in the independent brand’s Asian collection, following the success of The Standard, Hua Hin and The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon.
Situated on the prestigious Orange Grove Road, the property will be an urban oasis that effortlessly embodies the vision of Singapore as a ‘city in a garden’.
Envisioned by Standard International’s in-house design team led by Verena Haller, in collaboration with the Ministry of Design, The Standard, Singapore will be positioned as a vibrant intersection of East and West, facilitating an enriching cultural exchange. The hotel will feature 143 thoughtfully-designed guestrooms across eight floors, each with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the pool in tandem with the surrounding lush greenery. Spanning the first and second floors, The Garden is lined with art installations by local and carefully selected landscape elements leading up to The Pool, paying homage to the nearby botanical gardens. The path is lined with art installations and carefully selected landscape elements that set the perfect stage for Singapore’s equatorial sunsets. The property pays homage to the nearby botanical gardens and incorporates works from local artists and artisans.
Targeting both hotel guests and Singapore residents, the F&B offering will include Kaya, which reimagines the Izakaya experience with bold flavours and an inventive cocktail programme. The Japanese-inspired menu will include nigiri, maki rolls and robatayaki utilising regional ingredients and accompanied by an extensive sake and whisky list. The restaurant blurs the line between the informality of Izakaya with refined ingredients and artful presentation. Adjacent to the restaurant sits the Kaya Bar, a sultry evening destination that brings the element of nightlife for which The Standard is renowned. Meanwhile on the ground floor, Café Standard is a street-facing, buzzy neighbourhood spot serving an all-day menu of American fare paired with natural wines and craft beers in a charming bistro setting.
“We couldn’t be more excited to open in Singapore,” states Amar Lalvani, Executive Chairman of Standard International. “This city is going through an incredibly dynamic period and emerging into an important global commercial, cultural, and creative hub that’s perfect for The Standard. We look forward to welcoming guests, as well as the local community, to explore our new urban oasis and its hidden treasures.”
The opening of The Standard, Singapore follows closely on the heels of the announcement of Amar Lalvani’s role as President & Creative Director of Hyatt’s new lifestyle group. In this new position, Lalvani will be focused on combining Standard International’s creativity with Hyatt’s best-in-class operational, commercial and loyalty infrastructure to deliver memorable guest experiences.
