The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon will open its doors this May, marking The Standard brand’s flagship hotel in Asia.
Located in Bangkok’s central business district between the Sathorn and Silom corridors and is housed within the landmark King Power Mahanakhon Building, a 78-story mixed-use building that is one of the tallest in Thailand, the hotel will reflect the unmistakable energy of the Thai capital and infuse the brand’s “anything but standard” ethos throughout the property.
Conceived by Spanish artist and designer Jamie Hayon in collaboration with The Standard’s in-house design team, the 155-key property boasts vibrant colours, fluid shapes, evolving art installations and lush greenery that flows seamlessly inside and out, marking a sharp aesthetic departure from other luxury hotels in the city.
As with all Standard hotels, there will be a dynamic array of restaurant, lounge, bar and nightlife offerings including the first international outpost of the renown Standard Grill and Thailand’s first outpost of the acclaimed Mott 32. In addition to the restaurants themselves, The Parlor will be a hub of music and activity offering snacks and cocktails while the fantasy-filled tea room will offer treats found nowhere else in Bangkok. The rooftop will house Ojo, a Mexican inspired restaurant directed by one of the finest young chefs in Mexico.
The hotel will also feature an outdoor terrace pool with the vibrant pool scene for which The Standard is known, the most advanced gym in Bangkok offering memberships to the local community and meeting/event rooms.
“There is nothing in Bangkok, or the entire region, like what we have created here,” says Amar Lalvani, Executive Chairman for Standard International. “We love the energy, style and culture Bangkok offers and couldn’t be more proud to partner with King Power to open our flagship for the region in this awe inspiring building, in this incredible city. When we open our doors in May, visitors and locals will be treated to the world of immersive hospitality that only The Standard can create.”
This new addition to The Standard’s portfolio will sit alongside the brand’s US flagship The Standard, High Line and AHEAD-winning European flagship The Standard, London and in perfect counterpoint to The Standard’s waterside retreats in Miami, the Maldives, and Hua Hin, and its forthcoming Standard hotel in Ibiza, which is also set to open this Spring.
