Sandbourne Santa Monica is gearing up to open its doors, showcasing designs by Icelandic architect Gulla Jónsdóttir.
Comprising 175 guestrooms and suites, the property has been designed to embody seaside tranquility. Warm earthy tones throughout have been paired with natural textiles like woven fibres and soft linens, while minimalist accents evoke a sense of modernity. Each room is adorned with custom-designed rugs by Atelier Gulla, adding a touch of bespoke charm.
Venturing into the restaurant, with its culinary experience by Chef Raphael Lunetta, guests are greeted by subtle pink-toned chukum-coated walls. Here, sculptural columns and bars designed by Atelier Gulla stand as works of art in their own right, complementing the eclectic mix of furniture sourced from brands like Tidelli, Janus et Cie and Kettal.
An outdoor pool terrace, with furniture from Lulu and Georgia, is complete with lush greenery and poolside cabanas, while sculptural windows designed by Atelier Gulla frame views of the ocean. Elsewhere, an indoor/outdoor fitness center caters to wellness enthusiasts, while a dog park and honey bee hive enhance the hotel’s commitment to a diverse and sustainable guest experience.
The property is also home to a gallery space, featuring works by artists such as Sabine Blanchard and Patrick Montagnac, sourced from Paris-based Louis Dimension Gallery.
