First Look: Lost Property, St Paul’s
Lost Property St Paul’s London, Curio Collection by Hilton has revealed a first look at its guestrooms.
Set to open in Spring 2022, the property – developed by Dominvs Group – will be the first under the brand in the Square Mile and joins almost 50 Curio Collection hotels trading or under development across Europe.
Spread over six floors and complemented by a bar, restaurant and cafe, its 145 guestrooms have been designed by Rani Ahluwalia, Creative Director of Key Interior and Designs, in partnership with Ica.
Blending classic features with high-quality furniture and a crisp finish, the design gives the hotel a unique personality and character that is emphasised by bespoke artwork inspired by London’s lost stories in history.
Art Deco and Mid-century details provide shots of bold colour, while sculptural pieces and tactile materials create a stylish sanctuary in the heart of the city. The interior neutral walls are contrasted with furniture in deep blues and warm timbers, while fittings and trims are finished in English brass. The colour palette and style is carried across into the elegant en-suite bathrooms as well as the hotel’s communal areas.
While the interiors have been completely transformed, Dominvs Group has ensured the refurbishment of the building retains the external, Grade II-listed grey stone façade, preserving its architectural heritage; only 100 metres from St Paul’s Cathedral, the rooms facing north and east will have views of the landmark.
“St Paul’s Cathedral is recognised as one of London’s most treasured landmarks, and Lost Property St Paul’s London, Curio Collection by Hilton will provide the perfect base from which to explore the capital,” says Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President of Development, EMEA at Hilton. “Dominvs Group have been exceptional partners, and we’re pleased to be growing our London portfolio with this elegant addition.”
Rani Ahluwalia comments: “I’m delighted to finally reveal the inside of this beautiful new hotel. Over the last two years, we sought to create a property with its own personality; an elegant, modern space combined with a sophisticated and comfortable finish. Curio is renowned for its stunning bespoke and appealing interiors, and we have found the balance that complements the historical traditional exterior of the building.”
Ashley McCabe, Lead Interior Designer at Ica, adds: “St Paul’s Cathedral is such an iconic location and its presence dictates that this hotel needs to be a very special place. In a counter point its the grand civic architecture, Lost Property is, on a very human scale, an intimate retreat from the busy boulevard outside. The interior will provide guests with a journey through quirky spaces, finding them lost in the moment.”
