A rendering of the new Gleneagles Townhouse in Perthshire, Scotland

First Look: Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh

Iconic sporting and country estate Gleneagles is set to launch its first ever city outpost this Autumn.

Located on St Andrews Square in a building originally home to the British Linen Company and later the Bank of Scotland, Gleneagles Townhouse will boast striking architectural features and elegant interiors by Ennismore Design Studio – the team behind new spaces at Gleneagles in Perthshire and The Hoxton hotels.

The property will comprise 33 individually designed bedrooms featuring quirky yet contemporary interiors that embrace the building’s heritage; an all-day restaurant and two bars, including a roof terrace with panoramic views over the Scottish capital; and a spa and holistic wellness area. There will also be a members’ club with a series of exclusive private spaces, set to become a hub for Edinburgh’s creative community.

Design highlights include wellness space changing rooms situated in an old bank vault, which is flanked by original vault doors with terrazzo style flooring, together with a members lounge located within the bank’s former boardroom and home to reclaimed timber floors and crystal chandelier lighting. The all-day dining space meanwhile features a horseshoe bar with stained glass panels and a domed glass ceiling with original, etched glass, whilst the roof terrace will boast a curved timber bar, floral carpets and mirror band detailing.
