First Look: Clarion Hotel Draken
Swedish design agency Stylt has completed the design of hotel group Strawberry’s flagship Clarion Hotel Draken.
Nestled in the heart of Gothenburg in Sweden, the 474-room hotel has been designed to amplify local culture, including film, music, fashion and art. A new-build high-rise property, the hotel fuses new and old, with its classical cinema and theatre housed in a historic and interconnected building.
Stylt’s conceptual design shines through in the hotel’s public spaces, which take the form of multiple F&B venues – including a restaurant that overlooks the city from the 33rd floor – a spa, screening room, library and meeting space.
“The hotel’s ambition to become one of the country’s most dynamic cultural and entertainment hubs aligns perfectly with the cultural vibrancy of the area,” says Stylt founder Erik Nissen Johansen.
In completing the design of Clarion Hotel Draken, the studio is making a mark in its own hometown. Anneli Soumalainen, Lead Interior Architect at Stylt, adds: “The blend of local culture and extensive hospitality makes Draken a truly unique project. Additionally, our design studio is the hotel’s closest neighbour, so this also becomes our new living room.”
