Capella Kenting

First Look: Capella Kenting

Capella Hotels and Resorts has announced plans to open its second property in Taiwan.

Slated for 2028, Capella Kenting will be the first Capella resort to land in Southern Taiwan – the result of a partnership between Capella Group and Riant Capital Limited.

Located on a sprawling 99,000m² plot along the western coastline of Taiwan’s Hengchun Peninsula, Capella Kenting has been designed by Italian architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, founders of ACPV Architects. The duo were inspired by Pingtung’s indigenous architecture and the area’s rich natural environment – weaving in touches such as low walls made of stacked stones, a detail commonly found in the region’s tribal houses, and ensuring that spaces connect guests with nature.

Each of the 65 villas will be equipped with a private swimming pool, hot spring facilities and 180-degree sea views. “The design concept revolves around the special connection and relationship between the hotel and the ocean,” explains Citterio. “Guests will be able to fully immerse themselves in boundless sea views and irreplaceable natural experiences.”

Viel adds: “In our design, we have combined traditional craftsmanship with construction techniques to promote local characteristics. For instance, the design of the resort incorporates signature elements of the local aboriginal culture. This approach not only strengthens the connection between design and culture but also minimises our visual impact on the natural landscape.”

“Introducing leading international hotel brands is crucial for showcasing Taiwan globally,” says Aaron Chan, Chairman of Riant Capital. “We are thrilled to partner with Capella Group, renowned for crafting luxury travel experiences. This collaboration promises to significantly elevate Kenting and Taiwan’s global presence.”
