Wilson Associates has unveiled a first look at Canopy by Hilton Hangzhou Jinsha Lake.
Located on the shores of Jinsha Lake, the hotel overlooks the largest man-made park in Hangzhou, China.
Canopy by Hilton Hangzhou Jinshan Lake blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors. With a modern style and local charm, the hotel connects leisure and business travellers with nature in the heart of Xiasha.
The city’s evolution from marshlands to farmlands to its present state as an urban oasis served as inspiration for the interior design.
Led by Wilson Associate’s New York-based team, the scheme takes cues from garden planning to create open spaces in the lobby.
The space features a lush green wall that serves as a backdrop for bleacher-style seating, whilst a wood-slat pitched ceiling above the lounge area pays homage to traditional Chinese farmhouse architecture.
Each of the 196 guestrooms and six suites offer a contemporary interpretation of traditional Chinese design elements and the surrounding natural environment.
The focal point of these accommodations is the Canopy bed, which takes cues from traditional Chinese wood-screen panels.
The rooms’ colour palette references the shores of the Qiantang River with a combination of soft cream tones and warm sand shades.
Contemporary furniture pieces with light and dark wood finishes, combined with a hardwood floor with a light grey area, provide a residential-inspired ambience.
Locally curated artwork in the guestrooms and public spaces celebrates the connection between community and nature. Consisting of holograms, paintings and drawings, the art is inspired by plant life, local fauna and the tide patterns of the river.
