Fairmont acquires iconic Cape Town hotel
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced the acquisition of the iconic Cape Grace Hotel in Cape Town. The property will transition into a fully branded Fairmont property by the end of 2023, at which point it will become Cape Grace by Fairmont.
Set on a private quay on the city’s waterfront, with Table Mountain as a backdrop, the hotel boasts an impressive surrounding landscape. Once renovated, the site will comprise 120 guestrooms, as well as two F&B outlets. Owing to its location, the property will continue to provide ocean views.
“We are noticing a real momentum in South Africa for luxury hotel brands, and we couldn’t think of a more iconic hotel than Cape Grace to establish our footprint in the country,” says Mark Willis, CEO of Fairmont. “The world-class service of the brand combined with the unique location and unparalleled level of luxury the Cape Grace Hotel will be featuring, offers the promise of an unforgettable experience to any guest or visitor coming into the property.”
The property has recently been purchased by Kasada Hospitality Fund, an independent real estate private equity platform dedicated to hospitality in Sub-Saharan Africa. Following its acquisition by Fairmont, the hotel will add to the brand’s portfolio of more than 90 properties across the globe.
