Experimental Group has announced the reopening of Montesol Experimental, Ibiza in April 2023. The hotel will begin welcoming guests again following a full renovation of its guestrooms and suites.

The renovations come after the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop were refurbished in 2021. Now, 30 bedrooms and three suites have been remade, overseen by French designer Dorothée Meilichzon.

Experimental Ibiza

The neocolonial building, originally built in 1933, sees design inspiration drawn from Ibiza’s bohemian side coming to life in the island’s old town. An array of fabrics, patterns, fringes and pompoms are juxtaposed with cool, calming colours alongside light wood, colourful rugs and textured walls. A close attention to design details sees shells hand-pressed into the walls to create a soft outline and celestial embellishments like brass suns and over-sized moons dotted across the hotel.

Playful touches continue in guestrooms, with glossy lacquer wardrobes closing thanks to jigsaw puzzle pieces, and playdough stools crafted by Diego Faibre. Moving to the bathrooms, vanities are made from lava, with large mirrors in walnut and lacquer, while tiles – in a traditional Moroccan zellige style – add pops of orange, brown and off-white.

Following its redesign, the property continues to be home to a restaurant, rooftop bar and boutique shop. Cafe Montesol offers an array of tapas style dishes, while the rooftop cocktail bar has been crafted as a haven from Ibiza‘s fast-paced nightlife. A small on-site boutique features a curated selection of accessories and clothes from local Spanish artisans and international designers.

Renovations of the Ibiza hotel are the latest in a series which have seen it transformed from Gran Hotel Montesol to Montesol Experimental, Ibiza.
