ESPA launches Middle East flagship with Waldorf Astoria
ESPA Design and Consultancy has announced the opening of ESPA Life at Waldorf Astoria Lusail, Doha. The spa will be the new ESPA Life flagship in the Middle East, delivering its restorative wellness programme to the region.
With Waldorf Astoria Lusail, Doha located on a private beachfront, the spa will offer 180 degree views of the bay and skyline, while interiors will be inspired by the natural landscape of Qatar, alluding to the desert and the seas.
The 2,500 m² property will span over three floors, with indoor and outdoor zones connected by a terrace that flows around the entire space, bringing in natural light to gently illuminate interiors. Designed in collaboration with French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, the new spa seeks to channel a contemporary kind of elegance, inspired by the world of luxury yachting.
As guests make their way through the site, a series of arches will guide them from space to space and create a sense of rhythm throughout. Polished surfaces contrast with tactile textures, while organic shapes and warm natural colours complement the sensorial journey.
Daniel Golby, Managing Director at ESPA comments: “ESPA is thrilled to announce the launch of the new ESPA Life Waldorf Astoria Lusail, Doha, our flagship ESPA Life in the Middle East. It has been a pleasure for our Design and Consultancy team to work closely with The Waldorf Astoria and Hilton group, from initial concept to opening, to create a one-of-a-kind spa that represents the future of wellness, whilst reflecting the unique character of Doha.”
Designed for deep relaxation, 19 treatment suites feature across the property. Adorned with accents of gold, bronze, mother of pearl and azure Murano glass tiles, design nods to the surrounding bay waters. The Spa Suite is framed by uninterrupted seascapes, complete with a dedicated lounge and dining space, private double treatment room and thermal facilities. Sculptured oak walls and burnished gold finishes provide additional luxe touches throughout.
In the Male Thermal Suites, cobalt blue hot vitality pools are accompanied by rattan loungers that hover over the water. Elsewhere, the Female Spa sees spiral patterns of gold and white mosaic tiles providing a backdrop to the hot vitality and cold dipping pools. Sculpted marble heated loungers, aromatic steam rooms, saunas, Aquamoon showers and a snow room experience bring additional amenities to the space.
Golby continues: “The innovative treatments and extensive facilities offer an extraordinary sensorial wellbeing experience. The Waldorf Astoria’s illustrious service seamlessly complements ESPA’s approach to personalised wellness. We look forward to offering our pioneering Restorative Wellness Treatments to our new guests in the iconic setting of The Waldorf Astoria, Lusail.”
Beyond spa treatment rooms, the new ESPA flagship also comprises a cafe, Mindful Studio and fitness centre, across which TechnoGym equipment and My Equilibria outdoor gym equipment are available.
