Emiliano Hotel opens on Copacabana
Hotel Emiliano, a 90-key project by Chad Oppenheim and Arthur Casas, has opened on the Copacabana beachfront in Rio de Janeiro. Inspired by Rio’s natural landscape, a distinctive façade fronts the hotel and differentiates it from surrounding concrete buildings. Casas and Roberto Burle Marx have designed interiors and landscapes respectively, with Marx previously designing the famed Copacabana beach promenade.
The weatherproof panels that front the property can be completely opened from guestroom balconies, resulting in elevation that constantly changes in response to the requirements of each guest. When closed, the panels ensure privacy without compromising light, ventilation or views.
The ground floor includes a bar adjacent to the entrance, before guests are directed one of two ways. The first leads to the restaurant and business centre, whilst the other leads to the reception and private guest area. A gym, spa, sauna, private library and courtyards complete the offer, whilst works from noted Brazilian artists and designers including Sergio Rodrigues and Paola Lenti are integrated throughout.
