Embassy Suites Amarillo first look
Renderings have been released for Embassy Suites Amarillo, a new build hotel in the city’s downtown area. Developed by NewcrestImage, the property, located in the largest city in the Texas panhandle, is expected to open in May 2017.
Dallas-based interior design firm, MatchLine Design Group, has outfitted the guestrooms and public areas of the property. The design concept was inspired by the Texas sunset: topaz, amber, violet, copper, thistle and gold are juxtaposed against natural materials, evocative of the surrounding landscape. Warm woods are used to define accent walls, and stone textures can be found throughout the hotel. The spa features an accent wall, clad in porcelain, emulating natural mineral layers.
The six-storey hotel also features 226 guestrooms, which feature casegoods with multiple cerused wood finishes, and flooring made of a luxury vinyl tile with a roughly hewn texture to emulate real wood. Also displayed is a headboard accent wall, complete with a custom wallcovering of a topographic map of the nearby Palo Duro Canyon.
Greenery is included in public areas, with the living wall – made from a mix of succulents, grasses and other types of plants – establishing a fresh atmosphere. A laser cut MDF panel visually divides the space, keeping an open feel with an organic shape that is repeated throughout the property.
The hotel makes use of a private dining room, which features new light fixtures with hand-blown globe pendants made of seeded and clear glass, juxtaposed against a gold ceiling feature. Over the bar is a wood trellis that visually brings the height of the ceiling down. Pendants with a polished bronze finish are suspended through the slats to offer intimate lighting. Other amenities include a convention centre and outdoor courtyard.
