EAST Hong Kong has given its guestrooms a complete makeover to celebrate the hotel’s 10th anniversary.
The hotel has once again partnered with interior design studio CL3 Architects Ltd to carry out the refurbishment of the 345 guest rooms and suites, to be completed in 2021.
The new design aims to create the feeling of a ‘home away from home’ and carries the East message of: Efficient, Ergonomic, Eco-friendly and design Excellence.
Swire Hotels aims to always achieve its goals of growth while exerting minimal adverse impacts to the community and environment. Sustainable features include LED lighting for better energy efficiency, filtered water tabs, recycling bins in every room, hangers made with recycled paper and an ergonomic desk chair named the TAB chair, developed with strict environmental standards.
The hotel has also replaced paper menus with QR codes for in-room dining, switched to wooden, plastic-free room keys and implemented dispensers for shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, and Appelles lotion.
The revamped rooms will take inspiration from the original design but feature a new open plan concept, with careful consideration of function and style to create a fun, yet professional space for guests to work and recharge.
The rooms will include exposed wardrobes, moveable furniture, and a well-equipped bedside table featuring an electric plug, USB charger, lighting, and black-out curtain controls with the aim of every detail creating a user-friendly stay for guests and providing flexibility for a modern business lifestyle.
To add a touch of playfulness and create a sense of home, EAST has commissioned Australian artists Rowena Martinich to create a piece entitled ‘Incandescence’, a dynamic exploration of colour evoking energy and imitating the radiance of the sun, matching the brand voice.
The new commission symbolises movement, radiance and passion while the quintessential orange, which has come to be associated with the EAST brand, will be the cornerstone of this work. Martinich will also enlarge the piece to create a headboard for the new guest rooms.
“We are very glad to be invited back for the room refurbishment of EAST Hong Kong after 10 years,” says William Lim, Managing Director of CL3 Architects Ltd. “EAST is a business lifestyle hotel concept originated from Hong Kong. Our vision was to create a contemporary and modern design to the guest rooms which suits the changing scene in the world of business and travel.”
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of our hotel,” reveals Jennifer Cheung, General Manager of EAST Hong Kong. “With the facelift of our guest rooms and restaurants, EAST Hong Kong is staying true to its positioning statement – the business playground where bright ideas meet boundless energy.
