The Westbury Presidential Suite

Dublin’s The Westbury unveils renovated presidential suite

Dublin hotel The Westbury has unveiled the results of an €8 million investment, including a new suite named after its founder PV Doyle. Additionally, the fifth and sixth floors of the hotel are now home to 18 new Signature Suites, two of which feature expansive outdoor terraces.

Previously the hotel’s Presidential Suite and now named the PV Doyle Suite, the space has housed the likes of Audrey Hepburn, David Bowie and Bob Dylan. Entirely refurbished, the suite now comprises a master bedroom, living room and dining area alongside a fitness and wellbeing space, and can also be fully reconfigured to incorporate an additional three ensuite bedrooms.

The suite’s design scheme was created around its centrepiece, a bespoke rug showcasing mid-century motifs through a warm-toned colour-palette, bright green accents and large organic forms flowing throughout. The suite’s walls, meanwhile, highlight artwork from celebrated Irish artists.

Upon entering the PV Doyle Suite, guests are welcomed by Sol Y Sombra, a tapestry by 20th century Irish artist Louis Le Brocquy. In the sitting room, lofty windows fill the space with natural light, while a brass-lined cocktail bar is an ideal spot for hosting as light turns to dark.

The design also draws on the High Deco details displayed throughout the hotel, for instance seating in the main sitting room surrounds an Angelo Mangiarotti sculptural marble table.

“Every one of our projects starts with the space itself and the people who will stay in it – and each new suite at The Westbury is inspired by the evolving demands of the modern traveller,” says Bernie Doyle Gallagher, CEO of The Doyle Collection. “Light, elegant design touches create a sense of calm – an oasis above the bustling streets of Dublin. While supreme comfort is a given, we wanted to take this to a new level with our most recent refurbishment, then add depth and soul with beautiful pieces of art and furniture. The investment made through this renovation will continue to position The Westbury as a recognised luxury hotel on the international market.”
