Drift debuts signature Baja flair in Music City
Drift Nashville has opened its doors, with TMC Hospitality enlisting local studio Dryden to fuse Mid-Century architecture with the brand’s signature Baja flair.
Finding home within an inn built around 1965, Drift Nashville marks the fourth location for the Drift brand, following openings in San Jose del Cabo, Santa Barbara and Palm Springs.
The hotel façade’s existing clean lines are now accentuated in white, while a deep sea-green accents the lower portion, as if the building has been dipped in paint. Inside, warm colors like rust red and forest green complement earthy materials and textures of the American Southwest and Mexico, including leather, terrazzo, wood and terracotta. Having sourced materials and décor from nearby studios and artists, including Sick Dye, Relic Home, Ferrin Ironworks, Juliana Morgan Álvarez of Father Wolf and Michael McCollum, the property exudes both Drift and Dryden’s commitment to mindfully engaging local resources.
Local touches continue to unfold throughout the 87 accommodations, including 40 suites with one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts. Every room features custom walnut beds by Lucid Woodworks, bespoke Drift-brand bath amenities, bathrooms with handcrafted tiles by local studio Red Rock Tileworks and bathrobes handmade in Oaxaca.
The suites feature kitchenettes, dining and lounge areas, as well as multiple bathrooms. On the seventh floor is a 1,800ft² penthouse suite equipped with three king-size beds, a standalone soaking tub and a powder room with a golden toilet – an homage to Elvis, a frequent guest of the former inn in the 1980s.
Plugging into the pulse of Music City, Drift Nashville puts the local creative community at its core. Artworks adorn the lobby and ground-floor café and cocktail bar, where F&B has been conceived by Nashville tastemaker Alexis Soler. An outdoor oasis with one of the city’s few in-ground hotel pools meanwhile is complete with a bar and a new outpost of a locally-renowned Mexican food truck.
