Domes Resorts reveals plans for 2024
Domes Resorts has announced its plans for 2024 with new hotel and lifestyle openings to launch in Santorini, the Athenian Riviera and Corfu Old Town. Following debuts in Milos, Halkidiki and Mykonos in 2023, as well as Domes’ first-ever standalone restaurant, the Greek hospitality group has set its sights on new locations and concepts for the brand.
Set to open in Spring 2024, Domes Tholos Santorini will arrive as the brand’s inaugural hotel on the island, comprising 50 suites and two villas, all with private pools. Its signature Makris restaurant will sit atop a rooftop garden and be accompanied by a lobby bar and pool bar. Fusing Cycladic luxury with a sustainable approach, Kiros Pagkalidis Architects has used local materials including volcanic stone and blonde oak to create a neutral palette punctuated with dark accents and indoor/outdoor spaces. Enhancing the boutique’s holistic environment, Domes’ Soma Spa will feature an indoor pool and gym, plus Greek concept ‘Ef Zeen’ living, or ‘the art of living well’.
Slated for Summer 2024 meanwhile, 91 Athens Riviera will introduce a brand-new concept for Domes and the destination itself. Coined as a private lifestyle members’ club with ultra-luxe glamping, the project has been designed by Chadios Architects and includes the Barbarossa restaurant, several bars and modern sporting facilities including eight tennis courts. The 30 tents, most with their own private plunge pools, start at 46m2 each and are as equipped as a Domes resort room. Accommodation will be open to everyone, while facilities will be exclusive to members.
In Q4 2024, Domes Maison Corfu will join Domes’ Reserves portfolio, bringing with it just ten suites, fine-dining, art, events and bespoke interior design. Acquired by Domes one year ago, a historic mansion dating back to 1903 – which once hosted the British royal family after Prince Phillip’s baptism – was handpicked for its unspoilt cultural heritage and location on one of Old Town’s most prestigious boulevards. The property also offers a stopover location for guests en-route to Domes’ other Corfiot hotels like Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Hotel and Domes of Corfu, an Autograph Collection Hotel.
Elsewhere in Greece, Domes Noruz Kassandra – which opened under Domes’ management in April 2023 as a beach club with rooms – is set to receive an extensive renovation by Makridis Associates and Furtivo. The property will also welcome 26 new suites and pool, sitting within a Quiet Zone to cater to the more tranquil moments.
“2023 has seen Domes move towards a new hospitality direction and this will continue into 2024 and beyond,” says Dr G Spanos, CEO of Domes. “Our pipeline demonstrates our desire to open new touchpoints for our guests to enjoy Domes’ luxury services and to create even more personalised experiences in the luxury tourism sector whilst, simultaneously, presenting an exclusive opportunity to discover our destinations through a variety of mediums. Our portfolio will blend luxury accommodation, fine-dining, members’ clubs, wellbeing and cultural venues, to cater to our ever-growing and evolving luxury audience.”
