DLR Group designs new hotel in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains

DLR Group has shared a look at the interior design of Chamonix Casino Hotel, a new opening from Full House Resorts.

The new nine-storey, 440,650ft² property comprises 300 guestrooms and suites alongside a number of resort-style amenities.

The hotel, located in the historic mining town of Cripple Creek, Colorado, stands as an homage to the area’s rich architectural heritage. Following a fire in the late 1880s, which led to the banning of wood construction for downtown businesses, the town quickly rebuilt with brick and stone. This architectural legacy is preserved in Chamonix’s design, where materials and details reflect the historic buildings that line Bennett Avenue, most dating back to 1896.

The hotel’s interiors blend modern comfort with textures and colours inspired by the town’s gold mining history. Rich wood wall paneling flows throughout, with rooms also featuring traditional millwork detailing.

“Chamonix marries the grandeur of European elegance with the rugged charm of the Rocky Mountains, creating an inviting retreat that connects the past with the present,” comments Kiko Singh, Principal and Hospitality Leader at DLR Group.

On-site amenities include a spa, full-service salon, contemporary fitness centre, outdoor heated rooftop pool, an outdoor steam room, and elegant meeting and conference space.

Taking advantage of the property’s surroundings, the fitness centre features arched mirrors and glass facades that look out onto mountain views. On the top floor meanwhile, the rooftop pool features a glass edge and overlooks Cripple Creek and the surrounding mountains.
