Dive Palm Springs opens its doors on the western edge of Coachella Valley
Sitting on the western edge of Coachella Valley, the recently opened Dive Palm Springs channels the nostalgia of 1960s French Riviera through its design.
Working with California-based designer Vanessa Schreiber, founders Dale Fox and Abdi Manavi reimagined the original 1950s property to create a whimsical concept which takes its inspiration from 1960s St Tropez. Comprising only 11 guestrooms, each is bright and spacious with varying colour themes, featuring Belgian linen sheets on Tuft and Needle beds, vintage refrigerators, and a mixture of rattan furnishings supplied by the likes of Serena & Lily and Anthropologie. LA-based fashion illustrator Gabriella Fash painted wall art across the rooms, whilst bathrooms are uniquely and colourfully tiled, containing oversized rainfall showers, illuminated mirrors and custom designed bathrobes.
The La Rêve room features custom wallpaper and a full ceiling mural by Christian Lacroix, whilst The Paris Suite offers private access from the street and vintage touches such as an ornate 1910 belle epoque Parisian elevator transformed into a queen bed. The Orchard Suite comprises a large outdoor patio, a private hot tub, indoor movie theatre and its own private three-hole putting green.
The hotel serves organic breakfast as well as drinks and small bites, ranging from vegan spring rolls to champagne popsicles, from its French-inspired wheeled pool cart. The pristine grounds are complete with palm trees, canopy daybeds and tree benches; and, in the orchard, guests may pass the time in hanging chairs amongst the fruit trees, accompanied by the sound of twin waterfalls. Rounding off the peaceful experience is the Koi pond where guests can feed Dive’s fish from a mini airstream food container.
Other hotel features include a 24-hour hot tub, a firepit, and a lounge which continues the theme of rattan furnishings alongside lighting by Anthropologie and playful circular shapes reminiscent of 60’s retro. The velvet-clad Powder Room serves as a space for guests to enjoy cocktails, with an intimate atmosphere to encourage storytelling.
“Abdi and I have watched Palm Springs evolve, yet we still felt there was a gap in the market for an experience like Dive,” comments Fox. “To bring the concept to life, we partnered with a powerhouse team of talent who not only shared our vision, but also the passion to create something really spectacular.”
