Design Hotels adds to collection

Design Hotels has announced four new additions to its global portfolio.

Nakar Hotel is set on Mallorca’s Palma de Mallorca’s Avinguda Jaume III. It is the result of a collaboration between local architects, interior designers, chef and owner, and fashioned from regionally sourced materials.

An inherently Mallorcan project, Nakar Hotel offers views of the Old Town and out over the ocean, and facilities including the eight-floor Cuit Bar and Restaurant, a rooftop terrace and infinity pool, lounges and a spa. Guestrooms offer either twin or king-size beds, with many also boasting Jacuzzis, bathtubs, balconies or private patios.

Elsewhere, Dos Casas, located in the centre of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, is the result of a decade of architectural renovations. Offering a mix of vanguard design and warm traditionalism, Dos Casas is set within two adjoining 18th-century colonial houses and comprised of 12 guestrooms. All feature mid-century modern furniture and avant-garde touches including contemporary Latin American artworks.

Throughout the interiors can be found flashes of stone, marble, wood, iron, leather and brass, all paying homage to Mexico’s rich colonial heritage whilst a third building, added in 2009, houses a spa inspired by the healing caves of ancient Greece. Dos Casas’ on-site restaurant, Áperi, is helmed by executive chef Matteo Salas, serving up local ingredients and flavours, and the hotel’s communal rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of San Miguel de Allende’s 16th century skyline.

Coco-Mat, set on the Greek island of Serifos, has been renovated from a one-time miners quarters into spacious two-storey apartments, presenting a confluence of history, space and design. The hotel brings together authentic Cycladic design with an unadorned industrial order and sophisticated eco-friendly construction.

Lastly the 37-room Le Roch, nestled between Place Vendôme, the Opéra Garnier and the Louvre, boasts soft light and clean lines, and a balanced pastel palette of sage, chartreuse and pale green. The lounge and library areas offer guests a relaxed environment in which to unwind, whilst the outdoor courtyard is basked in seasonal light. Facilities also include a state-of-the-art fitness centre and spa, and a food and beverage programme headed up by rising chef Arnaud Faye.
