Desert & Delta Safaris unveils plans for new lodge in Botswana
Luxury eco-tourism expert Desert & Delta Safaris has unveiled plans to open Sediba Sa Rona, a safari lodge in Botswana’s Khwai Concession.
Set to launch in March 2026, the new venture will celebrate the area’s legacy, sustainability and empowerment of the local community.
Sediba Sa Rona, meaning “our source of water”, has been developed in partnership with Savanna Expeditions, a Botswana citizen-owned company. The project will revitalise the historic Khwai River Lodge – one of Botswana’s first exclusive photographic safari lodges – while preserving its footprint to minimise environmental impact. The revival honours the site’s historic significance while introducing a modern redesign that blends luxury with eco-consciousness.
Designed with privacy and peace in mind, Sediba Sa Rona will comprise 15 luxury tents, including a two-bedroom family tent. Each suite features en-suite bathrooms and private outdoor decks with sweeping views of the Khwai River.
Public spaces across the site will include a swimming pool, open-air fire deck, elevated viewing platforms, a spa and al fresco dining spaces.
Nestled at the crossroads of the Okavango Delta’s eastern fan and the Moremi Game Reserve, Sediba Sa Rona offers unparalleled access to one of Africa’s richest wildlife corridors, with guests set to be immersed in a landscape teeming with elephants, big cats, wild dogs, hippos and more than 500 bird species.
Through collaboration with Savanna Expeditions, the property will also emphasise local involvement in tourism operations, creating jobs and fostering economic growth within Botswana’s communities.
“Sediba Sa Rona is not just about luxury; it’s about creating a ripple effect of positive change – environmentally, socially and economically,” says Andrew Flatt, Marketing Director at Desert & Delta Safaris. “This lodge embodies everything we stand for – responsible tourism, uplifting the community and unforgettable experiences.”
