Crescent Court announces renovations
Dallas’ Hotel Crescent Court has unveiled plans for an extensive $30 million renovation, set to commence in spring 2017. Inspired by the geometry of architecture and fashion, the transformation will serve to modernise and emphasise the hotel’s traditional brand of southern hospitality.
The makeover will see a complete redesign of all 195 guestrooms and 31 suites, elevators and corridors, as well as updates to the 22,000ft² spa and fitness centre, lobby and bar. Dallas-based interior and architectural firm waldrop+nichols studio has been tasked to lead the process, creating an interior concept honouring the historic property’s past, and blending European elegance with Texan hospitality.
Paying homage to the 5-star hotel’s French Renaissance façade, while retaining the original vision of Caroline Rose Hunt and Pritzker Prize-winning Philip Johnson, waldrop+nichols will draw cues from the world of haute couture and avant-garde ideals. The selected colour palette of limestone, blush, taupe and mink seeks to allow this architecture to be the main feature.
“Embarking on a design renovation for a hotel with renowned presence and pedigree requires a commitment to honour the heritage, yet still create an aesthetic for the next generation,” explains Andrea Waldrop, Vice President, waldrop+nichols studio. “Every design environment created provides an original platform that stirs a guest to engage and embrace the essence of the interior.”
Already distinctive due to the curvature of the hotel, the corridors will reference French-inspired patterns through textural wall panels, seeded glass sconce diffusers, and rift-cut silver walnut millwork. Enhancements to the hotel’s public spaces include a fully refurbished lobby and new furnishings in Beau’s lounge and bar, and structural changes to ease flow and circulation from the front door to the sunken courtyard.
“Hotel Crescent Court has played a critical role in Dallas’ dynamic culture for three decades, always striving to be the face of unparalleled service,” comments John Goff, Chairman of Crescent. “This $30 million investment has been carefully designed to elevate the hotel to an even greater level of style, enriching the experiences of today’s discerning travellers.”
Hotel Crescent Court’s upgrades will seek to evoke a sense of calm and stylish affluence. A Lone Star landmark, the property mirrors its stylish surroundings, and is steps from the bustling Dallas Arts District with easy access to shopping, dining and entertainment venues.
Thirteen in-house dining outlets include Nobu, which serves up Japanese fare to the glass-enclosed The Conservatory overlooking courtyard gardens. Elsewhere, 17 event spaces, encompassing 23,320ft², host curated programmes that celebrate the community.
The renovation of Hotel Crescent Court follows a return to its original name, following its purchase by Crescent Real Estate.
