Dutch lifestyle operator CitizenM is set to continue its rollout of hotels in the US with five new properties in 2021, including openings in Los Angeles and Washington DC as well as debuts in Miami and San Francisco.
Taking the group’s American offering to 10 and worldwide portfolio to 27, the expansion will complement existing outposts in Boston, New York and Seattle, with each following its ‘Affordable Luxury’ philosophy.

CitizenM Los Angeles Downtown | September 2021
Surrounded by landmarks of early 20th century moviemaking – Little Tokyo, Disney Concert Hall – as well as several fashion districts, CitizenM’s 315-key Los Angeles Downtown property will bring affordable luxury to the City of Angels when it arrives this Autumn. Guests will be surrounded by artwork by renowned artists both in-room and in the shared spaces, from wallpaper by Friedrich Kunath in the living room to five pieces from the KRC Collection – including a video art installation by The One Minutes.

CitizenM San Francisco Union Square | October 2021
Landing in the city’s downtown neighbourhood in Q3, CitizenM San Francisco Union Square is one of three locations set to be opened by the brand in the Bay Area. Surrounded by one of the largest collections of department stores, upscale boutiques, gift shops, art galleries and beauty salons in the United States, the 12-storey building will comprise 195 guestrooms, a large lobby area and a rooftop venue, as well as outdoor terraces, 1,200ft2 of open public space and 6,100ft2 of retail on its ground floor and mezzanine.

CitizenM Miami Brickell | December 2021
Marking the brand’s debut in Florida, the 252-room CitizenM Miami Brickell will feature a façade donning five different works by local artist Jen Stark, who is using the building as a totem pole for her art. Brought together to form one composition, the installation bridges CitizenM’s playful personality with Brickell’s bustling atmosphere. Inside, eight SocietyM meeting rooms offer advanced tech and unlimited coffee, while guests can also enjoy drinks at the CloudM bar as well as CitizenM’s first-ever rooftop pool.

CitizenM Miami World Center | December 2021
At the same time as its Brickell outpost, CitizenM will open a second new space in Miami at the World Center. Surrounded by a mix of retail, hospitality and entertainment spaces, the hotel will offer 351 guestrooms, four SocietyM meeting rooms and a rooftop pool, together with another of CitizenM’s signature CloudM bars, serving cocktails with a view on the 11th floor. The interiors will be complemented by furnishings, lighting and fabrics by leading manufacturers such as Vitra, Alki, Flos and Kvadrat.

CitizenM Washington DC NoMa | December 2021
Short for North of Massachusetts Avenue, NoMa is quickly rising as one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Washington DC. The district is all about modern convenience and connection – adjacent to downtown offices, bustling nightlife and only two miles east of The White House, it's close to the city's famed locations. CitizenM is joining this fast-growing part of town, debuting this December with a 292-key development that will connect travellers to some of the most iconic landmarks in America.
